The Inman Teutons advanced to the second round of Kansas Class 1A state football playoffs with a 14-13 victory Thursday at Inman.
Conway Springs led at halftime 7-6.
That means there will be a new 1A state champion in 2025. Conway Springs won the 1A state title in 2023 and 2024. Inman also ended the Cardinals’ 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons in the playoffs.
The outcome came down to a blocked extra point and a narrowly avoided safety late in the game for Inman to pull out this win over a very stubborn Conway Springs team.
Inman (8-1) will play Heart of America League and district rival Moundridge (7-2) in the second round. The game will be played at Inman.
Inman defeated Moundridge 22-7 Oct. 24 at Moundridge.
Moundridge defeated Medicine Lodge 33-7 Thursday at Moundridge.
Conway Springs finished the season with a 3-7 record and Medicine Lodge finished 4-5.
