ANDALE, Kan. — The first full week of high school athletics at Andale was busy with all teams beginning their seasons.
Volleyball
The Lady Indians played two matches and went 2-0 and not dropping a set in a triangular at Mulvane last Tuesday. Andale opened the tri defeating McPherson (25-15, 29-27) and wrapped up with a 25-14, 25-15 victory over Mulvane. Andale (7-0) returns to the court for a busy week beginning with a tri at Circle against the Thunderbirds and Clearwater on Tuesday and wrapping up the week with the Valley Center Invitational on Saturday.
Girls Golf
Andale finished third at the Hesston Invitational on Thursday at Hesston Golf Park. The Lady Indians shot a 389 as a team finishing behind Thomas More Prep and Hesston. Sadie Aylward earned medalist honors for Andale finishing in a tie for ninth with a round of 93. Billie Jo Chaffin finished in a tie for 12th with a round of 94. Jacee Mattox finished with a round of 96, good for a tie for 16th. Peyton Jantz finished in a tie for 32nd with a score of 106. Hannah Mans rounded out the lineup finishing 39th with a round of 114. Andale will play in the Andover Central Invitational at Sierra Hills Golf Course on Tuesday in Wichita.
Cross Country
Five Andale Cross Country runners earned medalist honors at the Clearwater Invitational on Thursday. Jack Cutler won the boys 5K with a time of 17:07.87. Sam Pavelski was fifth (18:04.47), Dustin Buchanan finished sixth (18:15.04), Cade Brown was 10th (18:43.02) and William Parks finished 13th (18:56.60). The Andale girls did not field a team for the girls 5K. Andale will travel to Hesston on Thursday.
