
The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School boys cross country team placed seven runners in top 16 at the Thomas More Prep-Marian Invitational Saturday in Hays.
Hutchinson Trinity won the varsity boys team title with 23 points, followed by Quinter Junior High School 43, Ellinwood High School 98, Ellsworth High School 111, TMP 124 and Larned High School 133.
Trinity’s Jacob Lindstrom and John Lindstrom placed first and second with 5,000-meter race times of 16 minutes, 20.52 seconds and 16:27.85.
Ambrose Pennycuff placed seventh in 17:42.48, followed by Cameron Kiser, ninth, 17:50.32; Sam Pennycuff, 10th, 17:55.15; Sam Madden, 12th, 18:01.29; and Dylan Bornholdt, 16th, 18:24.
The Larned varsity boys were led by Lane Elam. 21st, 18:40.57; Jayden Ramirez, 45th, 21:20.16; Kayden LaPointe, 47th, 21:42; Caleb McDonald, 52nd, 22:15.24; Hunter Hewson, 53rd, 22:31.22; and Asher Olivier, 55th, 22:38.57.
The Larned girls were led by Addison Snodgrass, 44th, 30:15.36; and Emma Corman, 48th, 35:18.81.
Ellsworth won the 5,000-meter girls competition with 41 points, followed by Hoxie 52, Ellinwood 54, Quinter Junior High 84 and TMP 96.
Smith Center’s Madison Howland won the 5,000-meter varsity girls race with a time of 18:38.04.
Hutchinson Trinity won the JV boys team title and JV girls team title, both with 15 points.
In the JV boys 5,000-meter competition, Trinity’s Noah Law placed 13th, 18:08.06; Jonathan Springer, 23rd, 18:51.28; Bryan Mays, 25th, 19:12.69; Axel Walline, 27th, 19:17.73; Owen Hammersmith, 31st, 19:47.76; Alex Guajardo, 33rd, 19:58.32; Jackson Robinson,42nd, 20:49.86; Elias Pennycuff, 48th, 21:57.09; Josh Parker, 59th, 23:24.92; Gavin Scott, 61st, 23:54.68; and David Bargdill, 68th, 30:59.56.
Trinity’s Mia Vega placed 13th in the 5,000-meter JV girls race with a time of 23:18.04, followed by Clara Robinson, 31st, 24:09; Alesha Leighton, 28th, 25:27.47; Emma Martin, 30th, 25:55.03; Sally Harroald, 49th, 36:00.24; and Arianna Cano, 50th, 36:51.39.
In the girls 2-mile race, Trinity’s Eleanor Walline placed 50th in 19:20.67.
In the boys 2-mile run, Trinity eighth-grader Ian Bornholdt placed eighth with a time of 13:01.01; followed by Christian Reynas-Orozco, 25th, 13:50.52.
Trinity Catholic Junior High School seventh grader Oliver Whiteman placed 26th in the boys 1-mile race with a time of 7:03.26. Trinity seventh-grader Bryce Seitnater placed 54th in 10:45.76.
Trinity seventh-grader Imani Muiruri placed 40thin the girls 1-mile race with a time of 7:48.13.
