Hutchinson Trinity Boys Track Team Captures Russell Invitational Title

The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic Celtic boys track team captured first place at the Russell Invitational Thursday at Shaffer Field with 136 points.

The Celtics outdistanced second place Phillipsburg by 26 points.

Hoxie comfortably won the girls team title with 170 points, beating out second-place Ellsworth by 48 points.

The Trinity boys 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 relay A teams swept first-place with times of 44.57 seconds, 3 minutes, 38.59 seconds and 8:28.9. The Celtic B team placed fifth in the 4×800 and placed sixth in the 4×100 and 4×400.

Celtic senior Isaac Hammersmith captured first-place medals in the high jump (6-0), long jump (21-6.5) and triple jump (42-6.5).

Trinity also dominated the distance races. Senior Jacob Lindstrom, John Lindstrom and Noah Lau placed 1-2-4 in the 3200, the Lindstroms went 2-3 in the 1600, Cameron Kiser and Dylan Bornholdt went 2-4 in the 800, Roberto Guerrero and Owen Hammersmith went 2-5 in the 400.

Ian Rios placed third in the 300 hiurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles. Ambrose Pennycuff and Adahir Guerrero went 5-7 in the 300 hurdles.

The Trinity girls were paced by Alex Suter-Tan, who placed third in the 200 and 400 and placed fifth in the 100. Emma Martin finished fourth in the 3200 and Eiley Cost placed fourth in the discus.

Nickerson, Larned and Lyons also competed at the Russell Invitational.
