Hutchinson Golfers 6th, Buhler 9th at McPherson Tournament

The Hutchinson High School boys golf team placed sixth with a 319 score and Buhler finished ninth at 329 at the McPherson Invitational Friday at the par-70 Turkey Creek Golf Course.

The Hutchinson Salthawks finished 8 strokes behind first-place McPherson.

The McPherson Bullpups edged out Hays and Winfield, both at 314, by 3 strokes for the team crown. Salina Sacred Heart and the McPherson junior varsity squad placed fourth and fifth with 317 team scores.

Great Bend placed seventh at 322 and Derby was eighth at 325. El Dorado trailed Buhler by two strokes at 331 to place 10th.

Arkansas City placed 11th at 335, followed by Newton 346, Sterling 351, Haysville-Campus 360 and St. John-Hudson 394.

Buhler JV and Hays JV did not field enough players for team scores.

Hutchinson’s top golfer was Alex Haas, who placed third with a 74. He tied with McPherson’s Paxton Ingels. McPherson’s Cole Cooper placed first with a 2-under-par 68.

McPherson’s Gavin Heider placed ninth, 77; Hunter Vogelsbeg, 17th, 79; Lawson Ediger, 19th, 79; Bryant Siimelink, 30th, 82; Drake Timson, 42nd, 84; Zane Sporieder, 4th, 85; Brandon Ek, 48th, 85; Hudson Krehbiel, 49th, 85; Paxton Weiser, 59th, 87; Jaxon Hoover, 67th, 88; and Teigan Younger, 80th, 92.

Hutchinson’s Maks Dreiling placed 15th with a 78, followed by Landyn Powell, 36th, 83; Tate England, 45th, 84; Kale Dreiling, 63rd, 87; and Teagan England, 82nd, 92.

Buhler’s top golfers Zach Chance and Jace Horning fired 81s and placed 23rd and 24th, followed by Nick Chance, 35th, 83; Isaiah Heredia, 40th, 84; Ben Gazaway, 60th, 87; Carter Stover, 63rd, 88; and Carson Thibault, 79th, 91;

Sterling’s top golfer was Cameron Morris, who placed 41st with 84, followed by Wyatt Newberry, 66th, 88; Ian Dillard, 71st, 89; and Lane Weigel, 75th, 90.
