The Hutchinson High girls basketball team turned up the defense Tuesday in nabbing their first win of the season, 47-28 at Maize.
Hutchinson held the Eagles to 15 points through three quarters. By comparison, the Salthawks had 15 points in the third quarter alone and led 34-15 after three.
Ava Krone led the Salthawks with 14 points.
Maize boys 63, Hutchinson 37 – The Salthawks had a hard time getting their offense on track, scoring only 14 points in the first half as Maize built a 32-14 lead.
Hutchinson made only 12 field goals, compared to 26 for Maize.
Lamar Govain led the Salthawks with 21 points.
