Hutchinson Central Christian Boys, Girls Sweep Fairfield at Home

The Hutchinson Central Christian boys and girls basketball teams took a pair of varsity games from the Fairfield Falcons Tuesday at the Central Christian gymnasium.

The Central Christian boys defeated Fairfield 56-45. The Central Christian girls, ranked fourth in Class 1A Division II with a 13-2 record, beat Fairfield 51-37.

The Cougar boys led 24-19 at halftime and outscored the Falcons 32-26 in the second half, including a 20-11 third quarter.

Five Cougar boys scored in double figures and accounted for all 56 of the team’s points. Cal Barnett sored 14 points, Luke Eigsti 11, Cael Kooiman 11, Piercen Huff 10 and Hunter Franz 10.

Jalen Busick led Fairfield with 23 points, including five 3-pointers. Ryland Perry scored 10.

Statistics for the Central Christian-Fairfield girls game were not available.

The Central Christian boys evened their record at 7-7. The Fairfield boys dropped to 6-7 and the Falcon girls are 5-9.

Central Christian’s boys and girls play at Solomon on Friday, at Norwich next Tuesday and at Pretty Prairie Feb. 6.

Fairfield plays at Chase Friday, hosts Cunningham next Tuesday and hosts Attica on Feb. 6.
