The Hutchinson Community College men’s golf team is ranked second in the Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA Division I preseason Top 10 Coaches Poll.
It is the seventh straight year the HutchCC golf team was ranked in the top three in the preseason poll.
Midland CC (Texas) received all 10 preseason votes from NJCAA Division I coaches and is in first place with 90 points.
Hutchinson is second with 69 points, followed by Indians Hill 68, Odessa 67, New Mexico JC 58, McLennan 40, Central Alabama 26, Western Texas 24, Tyler JC 22 and Eastern Florida State 9.
Others receiving votes are Garden City 8, Dodge City 7, Blinn College 4 and Weatherford JC 3.
Chris Young is in his 26th season as Blue Dragon golf coach. He returns three golfers from the team that won the Jayhawk Conference/Region 6 title and placed fourth in the NJCAA Tournament.
The Blue Dragon returning golfers are Corey Scullion (43rd at nationals), Jack Northgraves (tied for 56th at nationals) and Cal Schultz.
The Blue Dragons will play in five fall tournaments, starting with the Waco River Classic, Sept. 14-16 at Bear Ridge Golf Course in Waco, Texas.
