The Buhler vs. Hutchinson varsity girls soccer rivalry ended in a 1-1 tie in double overtime Thursday night at Crusader Stadium in Buhler.
Buhler led at halftime 1-0 on a goal by Lakin Yoder on an assist by Kenzie Polk. Hutchinson tied the score in the second half on a goal by Karina Pineda.
“Tough one tonight — the girls left it on the field,” said Buhler girls soccer coach Randall Rank on the team’s Facebook page.
The host Crusaders are 1-0-1 and Hutchinson is 0-1-1.
Buhler won the junior varsity match 1-0 on a free kick by Bella Morones and improved to 2-0. The Salthawk JV girls are 1-0-1.
The Salthawk varsity soccer team lost to Andover 6-3 in its season-opener Tuesday at the Salthawk Soccer Complex. Andover led at halftime 4-2.
The Hutchinson junior varsity girls soccer team tied Andover Central 1-1 in its season-opener. Hutchinson led at halftime 1-0.
The Buhler varsity girls soccer team opened the season with 2-1 victory over Newton on Tuesday. The Crusader JV team won 2-0.
The Salthawks will play three matches at the Wichita South Titan Classic next week. Hutchinson plays Wichita East on Monday, Wichita Northwest on Wednesday and Dodge City on Saturday, April 4.
Buhler hosts Great Bend on Monday.
“We turn around and play Great Bend on Monday at Crusader Stadium,” Rank said. “Come out and support the girls as we will be on the road the next four games after that.”

• The Maize High School girls soccer team defeated Wichita Northwest 4-1 at Wichita Northwest.
• The Great Bend High School varsity girls soccer team shut out Wichita Independent 8-0 at Cavanaugh Field in Great Bend.
• The Salina South High School varsity girls soccer team shut out Newton 4-0.
• The Augusta High School girls soccer team shut out Mulvane 1-0.
• The McPherson girls soccer team was shut out 2-0 by Andover Central.
