Hutchinson Baseball Team Swept by Great Bend, Blue Valley West; Softball Team Drops Two Games

The Hutchinson Salthawk baseball and softball teams were swept by Great Bend Friday night.

The Salthawk baseball team also was swept by Blue Valley West 7-0 (Game 1) and 12-0 (Game 2) Saturday afternoon at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Panther baseball team lost the first game Friday at Hobart-Detter Field 8-4 and lost the second game 9-1.

The Great Bend softball team defeated Hutchinson 3-2 and 8-1 Friday at Fun Valley.

Hutchinson’s Aah’ice Jackson belted her first home run of the season for the Salthawks in the doubleheader.

The Hutchinson junior varsity baseball team defeated Great Bend 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader. The Salthawks and Panthers finished the second game in a 2-2 tie.

In other baseball and softball action from Friday:

• The Nickerson Panther girls softball team swept Lyons 24-0 and 11-1.

• The Lyons High School baseball team swept Nickerson 12-2 and 17-5.

• Inman and Little River split a softball doubleheader at Little River. Little River won the first game 14-13 and Inman claimed Game 2 6-4.

The second game ended early because of a lack of lights at Little River High School.

• The Hoisington Cardinals and Ellinwood Eagles split a baseball doubleheader Friday at Hoisington. Hoisington won the first game 21-11 and Ellinwood won the second game 11-0.

• The Hoisington softball team swept a doubleheader from Ellinwood Friday at Hoisington. The Cardinals won the first game 12-1 and the second game 14-4.
