The Hutchinson and Nickerson high school volleyball teams placed third and seventh at the McPherson Invitational Saturday.
The tournament was played at Salina South High School gymnasium.
The Salthawks lost to McPherson 25-20, 23-25, 25-18 in the semifinals and defeated Garden Plain 20-25, 25-18, 27-25 in the third-place match.
In pool play, Hutchinson defeated Garden City 20-25, 25-17, 25-15 and Wichita Heights 25-16, 25-17. The Salthawks lost to Wichita Bishop Carroll 25-15, 25-22.
Nickerson lost to Garden Plain 25-18, 25-21, McPherson 25-14, 25-16 and Salina South 25-21, 25-16 in pool play.
The Panthers lost to Garden City 25-14, 25-23 in the consolation round and defeated Wichita Heights 25-23, 25-21 in the seventh-place match.
Bishop Carroll defeated McPherson 25-10, 29-27 in the championship match. Garden City defeated Salina South 25-8, 25-19 in the fifth-place match.
