Hormigas Leave 12 On Base, Fall to Blackwell 7-4 in KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The KC Iola Hormigas closed off a four-game series against the Blackwell Flycatchers Sat., July 6 in Kansas City, falling 7-4.

The Hormigas out-hit Blackwell 12-9, but they left 12 runners on base. Five out of the seven Flycatcher hits were home runs as the team left only five on base.

Jacob Slocomb got the loss for KC Iola, throwing 5 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts, but five earned runs. The Hormigas struck out a total of 13 times, seven of which from Blackwell starter Glenn Simes.

The Hormigas are 7-22 on the season. They return to Iola Monday, July 7 to face the Trinidad Triggers at 6 p.m.
