Hesston’s Itoga Named in 2024 KJCCC Division 2 Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – Week 4

COLBY, Kan. (KJCCC.org) – A first collegiate hat trick and another shutout in net have led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 2 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for Hesston College freshman forward Rena Itoga and Johnson County Community College goalkeeper Maddox Fergus for week four of the 2024 season.

Rena Itoga (Hesston) – Itoga played a crucial role in Hesston winning back-to-back district contests this week by scoring three goals against Southeast and two against Pratt which included the game-winning goals in both contests. After scoring the first goal of her collegiate career on Wednesday against Southeast on her way to a hat trick Itoga added another two goals in a 4-1 win at Pratt as the five goals this week make her the new team leader in goals this season. Five of Itoga’s seven shots last week were on target with all five shots on goal finding the back of the net.

Maddox Fergus (Johnson County) – Reigning NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week Maddox Fergus held Neosho County scoreless, stopping all four shots she faced to post her third shutout of the season and 10th of her career last week. The shutout moves the sophomore into a tie for the eighth spot on JCCC’s career shutout list. With the shutout victory, Maddox improved to 3-0-1 while lowering her GAA to 0.89 this season.
