GOESSEL, Kan. – The Inman track team is a force to be reckoned with. On Tuesday, they took on a number of league opponents, where both the boys and girls team was able to come away with a first place finish.
It was quite the day for Madilyn Heflin, as she broke the Inman High School record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.74, breaking her previous time of 15.99. She currently has the 13th best time in the state and #1 time in 2A. She also claimed first in the 300m hurdles, and was also the anchor in the 4×400 relay, which finished first as well.
Maider Fernandez was also part of the first place 4×1 and 4×400 relay teams, and she finished second in both the 200 and 400m dash, as Elyria’s Grace Prescott held the edge in both events.
Inman’s Madelyn Brunk was second between the Reiff sisters of ECS, as Laney took 1st, while Macy took 3rd. Laney Reiff also took first in the 1600 and 3200m run.
In the girls field events, Brylee Mannebach would take first for Inman in the triple jump, followed by Katie Nichols. Nichols also took 2nd in the high jump, and in the throwing events, Chloe Schmidt would take 1st in the Discuss, while Elyria’s Ryland Hawkinson would take first in both the shot put and javelin.
For Inman’s Boys, Tanner Heckel would take first in both the 100 and 200m dash, as well as taking first in the javelin and 4×100 relay. Eli Brunk also had an unbelievable day, he was part of the 4×100 relay as well, and took 1st in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Eli Leck and Cooper Wiens were other first place finishers for the Teutons.
Elyria’s boys were highlighted by Blake Robertson, who took first in both the discus and shot put, while Axton Fields was a top five finisher, taking 3rd in the discus and 5th in the shot put.
The Inman Teutons will compete in the Sterling Relays on Friday, at 3 p.m.
Elyria Christian will travel to Haven, for a 4:30 meet on Tuesday.
