LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Athletics Department has announced that Aaron Havis has joined the Bethany College Men’s Basketball team as an assistant coach.

Newly-named Assistant Coach Aaron Havis on joining the staff: “I’m excited to join the Bethany College basketball program under Coach Murphy’s leadership. It’s an honor to be part of a program with such a strong sense of family. I’m looking forward to contributing to the growth of our student-athletes and embracing the community here in Lindsborg.”

Havis joins the Bethany Men’s Basketball staff with plenty of experience with NAIA basketball. He began his journey at Presentation College as a basketball intern where he would parlay that into an assistant job. While at Presentation, Havis assisted in coaching the developmental team and skill workouts, managed recruitment, and helped promote the Saints on social media.

Following his stint at Presentation College, Havis went on to Doane University as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. While with the Tigers, Coach Havis was the head coach of the junior varsity team while assisting the varsity program, created scouting reports and highlight videos using Synergy, provided academic supervision and mentorship, and coordinated game-day logistics. Some notable achievements while at Doane features coaching multiple GPAC All-Conference players, multiple 1,000-point scorers, tying the school record for GPAC wins in 2021 and appearing in the conference tournament semi-finals.

Havis’ latest stop was with the Bellevue University Bruins as the Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach. While at Bellevue, Coach Havis led the recruiting charge including student-athlete evaluations, game and practice evaluations, and campus visits. He also was in charge of opponent scouting, game plan development, film breakdown, and fundraising efforts. In the 2023-24 season, Havis helped the Bruin finish the season on a 9-3 run to win the North Star Athletic conference title.

Head Coach Terrence Murphy on hiring Coach Havis: “We are excited to have Aaron Havis join the Bethany family. His experience at the NAIA-level, particularly in the Midwest, will provide an immediate boost to our basketball operations and recruiting, as we seek to build upon the progress from this past season. Glad to have him onboard!”

Havis received his Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Event Management while attending Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He went on to earn his Master’s of Business Administration from Doane University in Crete, Neb.
