A Kansas Class 3A cross country regional also took place on the Wichita Trinity Academy course Saturday.
Haven High School junior Isaiah Doherty qualified for the Kansas 3A state meet with a 10th-place time of 19 minutes, 2.5 seconds.
In the boys competition, Haven placed eighth with 234 points, Nickerson was 13th with 333 points and Halstead was 14th with 358 points. Halstead placed ninth in the girls team standings with 247 points.
Haven’s Lane Hopkinson placed 51st in the 3A regional boys race with a time of 22:41.1, followed by Jayden Idacavage and Camden Behnk in 53rd and 54th place with times of 23:02.9 and 23:08; Aiden Rich-Adkins, 69th, 24:35.71; and Jordan Kaufman, 83rd, 27:16.6.
Nickerson’s top-placing runner was Andy Huggard, 48th place, 22:35.4; Aiden Brinkley, 63rd, 23:57.7; Luke Shelton, 70th, 24:39.8; Renner Hawks, 73rd, 25:41; Dale Landry Smith, 79th, 26:30.8; Carson Ward, 96th, 30:06.3; and Hayden Nelson, 97th, 30:37.6.
Jonathan Haspels was the top-finishing Halstead boys runner with a 44th-place time of 22:16.18, followed by Eli Wilcox, 64th, 23:59.6; Russell Schroeder, 81st, 27:02.6; Daniel Lipani, 82nd, 27:14.5; Austin Schroeder, 89th, 28:15.7; Gavin Healey, 91st, 28:45.3; and Dylan Jahnke, 94th, 29:29.8.
Haven’s Berenika Coufalova placed 21st in the 5K girls regional race with a time of 23:35.2, followed by teammates Amelia Scott, 45th, 26:18.6; Abby Thalmann, 65th, 30:08.5.
Halstead’s top girls runner was Aiden Wills, 35th, 25:33.9; followed by Briley Allmon, 56th, 28:29.6; Mackenzie Ervin, 60th, 29:51.7; Charli Harrington, 66th, 30:15.2; Whitney McGlothlin, 75th, 35:58.8; and Madi Rump, 76th, 38:51.61.
Nickerson’s top girls runner was Jaycie Ohnmantcht, 34th, 25:29; followed by Amelia Peil, 58th, 29:03.1; Bella Brinkley, 68th, 30:54.7; and Samantha Washburn, 76th, 38:31.9.
The state cross country meets for Classes 6A, 5A and 3A will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence. The state meets for Classes 4A, 2A and 1A will take place Nov. 1 at the Wamego Country Club.
