Halstead Runners Participate in Herington Invitational

Halstead High School runners participated in the Herington Invitational Thursday.

The Halstead boys placed third with 108 points and the Dragon girls placed fifth with 115 points.

In the varsity boys 5K race, Jonathan Haspels placed 13th with a time of 19 minutes, 59 seconds. Eli Wilcox placed 26th, 20:50; Russell Schroeder, 27th, 20:51; Gavin Healey, 30th. 21:23; Dylan Jahnke, 37th, 22:44; Donovan Healey, 39th, 22:44; and Austin Schroeder, 43rd, 24:04.

Addison Wills led the Dragon girls varsity squad with a 17th-place finish with a 5K time of 24 minutes, 20 seconds.

Charlie Harrington placed 26th, 26:54; Mackenzie Ervin, 28th, 28:32; Madi Rump. 35th. 30:20 and Whitney McGlothlin. 36th, 30:20.

In the 5K boys junior varsity race, Halstead’s Daniel Lipani placed 13th, 24:26; Jeriah Plank, 15th, 25:03; Wiley Hoch, 19th, 26:50; and Geordan Schrag, 21st, 28:05.

Halstead placed second in the 8th grade mixed (boys and girls) team standings with 35 points.

Halstead’s Kyren Davis captured first place in the 8th grade boys 2-mile race with a time of 12:33.49.

Kolton Rump placed ninth in the 8th grade boys 2-mile race in 13:58.72; followed by Elijah Mason-Oswald, 12th, 14:30.1; Griffin Patrick, 14th, 14:53.57; Avi Rodriguez, 15th, 15:12.88; and Brett Barry, 16th, 15:57.81.

In the 7th grade 2-mile boys race, Halstead’s Preston Delzer placed seventh with a time of 13:29.66.
