In a battle of No.1-ranked girls basketball teams, the Halstead girls defeated Little River 52-48 Thursday at the Halstead gym.
In addition to the big crowd in person, more than 500 people watched the game on YouTube, according to the Halstead High School Facebook page.
Halstead, No. 1 in Kansas Class 3A, improved to 20-0. Little River, No. 1 in Class 1A Division I , is 21-2. The Redskins’ other loss was to Class 6A Wichita East.
Little River led 15-13 after one quarter and 26-22 at halftime. The score was tied 37-37 at the end of the third quarter.
Little River hosts Olpe Friday night. Halstead plays Elyria Christian Friday at Elyria.
