The Halstead High School girls basketball team defeated Pratt 56-29 Tuesday night at Pratt and the Halstead Dragon boys lost to the Greenbacks 70-41.
The Dragon girls led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter, 31-14 at halftime and 51-23 after three quarters. The Greenbacks outscored the Dragons 6-5 in the fourth quarter.
In the varsity boys game, Pratt led 17-14 at the end of the first quarter, 32-19 at halftime and 54-29 at the end of the third quarter. Pratt outscored the Dragons 16-12 in the fourth quarter.
Damien Whillock was high scorer for the Halstead boys with 14 points. Carlos Martinez added 9 points. Mario Diaz grabbed 11 rebounds. Grayson Swift had 3 assists.
Caleb Strong paced the Greenbacks with 22 points. Arley Morrell, Kansas State football signee, scored 18 points. Carlito Lara scored 12 points.
The Halstead boys dropped to 4-7.
The Halstead boys C team defeated Pratt 46-44.
Halstead plays at Larned on Friday night.
