The Halstead girls basketball team held on for a 32-30 victory over Hillsboro Tuesday night at Hillsboro and the Halstead boys routed Hillsboro 56-38.
The Dragon girls (5-0) led the Hillsboro Trojans 13-3 at the end of the first quarter and 20-10 at halftime. Hillsboro led 24-23 after three quarters. Halstead outscored the Trojans 9-6 in the fourth quarter.
Addison Wills led Halstead with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Onnyka Nedich added 9 points.
Ella Potucek led Hillsboro’s girls with 9 points. Kingzley Ratzlaff grabbed 8 rebounds.
In the varsity boys game at Hillsboro, the score was tied 14-14 after one quarter. Halstead led at halftime 26-22. Halstead outscored the Trojans 30-16 in the second half.
Damien Whillock led the Halstead boys (3-2) with 23 points. Noah Brantley added 9 points. Carlos Martinez grabbed 7 rebounds.
Brayson Amstutz led the Trojans with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Braxton Hiebert scored 12 points.
