Halstead Dragon Squads Take Down Abilene

The Halstead Dragon girls basketball team, ranked second in Kansas Class 3A, rolled past Abilene 67-26 Tuesday night at the Halstead gymnasium.

Halstead honored the 2025 Kansas Class 3A girls state championship basketball team and added the state title banner to the championship wall in the gym.

Addisen Wills led the Dragon girls team with 21 points. Onnyka Nedich fired in 16 points and Jordy Schroeder tacked on 12 points.

The Halstead boys improved to 4-5 with an 84-72 victory over Abilene.

Halstead outscored the Cowboys 50-41 in the second half.

Reece Carmichael (22) and Damien Whillock (20) combined for 42 points to lead the Dragons. Wyatt Hobbes added 8.

Kolt Becker led Abilene with 25 points. Bennett Altwegg scored 11, Taygen Funston 10, Levi Evans 9 and Wyatt Bathurst 7.
