Great Bend Bat Cats Get Turnaround Win over Kingman

KINGMAN, Kan. – Ninth inning insurance helped give the Bat Cats an 8-1 win over the Kingman Islanders Saturday, June 21.

After falling to Haysville at home Friday 16-12, the Bat Cats turned it around thanks to terrific pitching and timely hitting. Carson Umphres had a stellar day on the mound, getting the win after striking out six batters in six innings. Ryland Khan closed out the final three innings, striking out four.

Deacon Pomeroy had a stellar day at the plate, hitting 2-4 with a triple and 3 RBI’s. Kyle Walker and Andrugh Yee each added a pair of hits as well. Caleb Cowan and Elias Leon each hit a double.

Great Bend is 9-6 on the season. They’ll face Kingman again Monday, June 23 at 7 p.m. at home.
