HUTCHINSON, Kan. (BlueDragonSports.com) – The Hutchinson Community College football team is just one of two remaining defeated teams in NJCAA Division I Football.
Following a 48-7 victory at Independence on Saturday, the Blue Dragons maintained the top spot in the NJCAA national rankings for the sixth-straight week.
The next two weeks will be challenging for the Blue Dragons with back-to-back nationally ranked opponents. Hutchinson (6-0) travels to No. 12 Coffeyville (4-2) at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then return to Gowans Stadium on October 26 to meet No. 13 Butler.

The Dragons are 3-0 against ranked opponents this season.
This is the 41st consecutive poll the Dragons have been ranked, which is the second-longest run in the rankings in program history. The Blue Dragon record for consecutive weeks ranked in the polls is 45, which was set from 2010 to 2013.
This is the sixth time the Blue Dragons have been ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA polls in program history. The Dragons have been ranked No. 1 in 35 of the past 61 polls and have been ranked in the nation’s Top 3 for 36 consecutive polls.
Hutchinson and Iowa Western stayed at Nos. 1 and 2 in this week’s rankings. Former No. 3 Mississippi Gulf Coast lost last week and fell to No. 7. Georgia Military is now No. 3, Snow is No. 4 and Garden City jumps into the Top 5 at No. 5.
Holmes Community College is the other unbeaten team in the nation and is No. 6.
