McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs are officially on a winning streak, knocking off the Ottawa University Braves for their third straight victory on a rainy Saturday (Sep. 21) at McPherson Stadium, home of Paul Family Field.

The win marks the first time the Bulldogs have won three consecutive games since the 2009 season, and their fourth straight victory over the Braves.

Following a 77-minute weather delay, the Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders forcing an opening three-and-out, before marching 80 yards in 17 plays, capped off by a two-yard touchdown run by Jalil Brown. Brown had 39 of his team-high 99 rushing yards on the Bulldogs opening drive.

But it wasn’t just the rushing attack that was clicking, as Tristan Szabo found Traven Lewis-Johnson for a 60-yard touchdown pass down the sideline on their next possession to make it a 14-0 lead with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter.

Taylor Eggers threw for 168 yards for the Braves, but 84 of those yards came on two completions to Keavian Long, the second of which set the Braves up inside the MC 20-yard line. Eggers would eventually punch it in from a yard out to pull within 14-7 early in the second quarter.

That score would hold until the 9:02 mark of the third quarter when Brown took a screen pass from Szabo and broke several tackles on his way to a 21-yard touchdown.

Jeremiah Mosley joined in on the parade early in the final frame, scoring from a yard out to push the lead to 28-7. Maxwell Barba sealed the victory with a 36-yard field goal.

MC was balanced in their offensive attack, rushing for 233 yards and throwing for 208 yards. Szabo was 10-for-17 with two passing touchdowns, and rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries. Brown has scored a team-high six rushing touchdowns this season, including at least one in each of the Bulldogs four games.

On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs held OU to just 239 yards of offense, including just 71 yards on the ground. Christopher Roshell had the game’s only turnover, picking off Eggers in the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs will take their three-game winning streak on the road next Saturday (Sep. 28), traveling to Kansas City to take on Avila University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
