WINFIELD, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – Storms rolled across south-central Kansas on Saturday evening, leading to Tabor’s showdown with Southwestern to be delayed. TC entered the game after dropping their last home contest with Bethany last Saturday, while the Moundbuilders entered with their victory over Kansas Wesleyan in the Bishop’s Cup fresh in their minds.
The Bluejays got a slow start, falling behind 14-0 in the first half. The weather certainly didn’t help things, as the delays took away any kind of momentum the team might’ve had. Multiple weather delays created almost an hour and a half break between the first and second halves, due to lighting and strong storms in the area. Sean Hunter’s 25 rushing yards highlighted the Tabor offense in the first half.
Southwestern exploded to take a 35-0 lead in the third quarter, adding one final touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the Bluejays’ fate. Hunter’s 86 yards made up for a solid chunk of Tabor’s offense.
With the loss, TC falls to 1-3 on the season. The Bluejays look to bounce back Saturday as they return home to host No. 21 Friends in a 1pm kickoff at Joel H. Wiens Stadium. The game will be broadcast on the KCAC Network and the Tabor Webcast YouTube page and live stats will be available here.
