Tucker Goss had a monster game to lead Ellsworth over the Lyons Lions, 50-3 on Friday.
Goss rushed for 287 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns and a pair of 2-point conversions. Ellsworth gained a total of 392 yards on 67 rushing attempts. Sophomore QB Carson Jacobs from Ellsworth threw for one TD and rushed for another.
Lyons quarterback David Pando completed five passes for 47 yards as Detrell Stanley had two receptions for 25 yards. The Lions were held to 34 yards rushing on 25 attempts as the Ellsworth defense shut down the running attack. Lyons forced three consecutive Ellsworth turnovers in the second quarter but was unable to capitalize on the good defensive play.
Detrell Stanley had a blocked extra-point attempt, Landen Birzer had a blocked punt, Derek Alvidrez recovered a fumble, and Hendrix Starbuck had a pass interception to give Lyons opportunities to take advantage of good field position.
Ellsworth moves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play, while Lyons drops to 0-4 and 0-1 in District 6 action. Lyons will be at home to face top-ranked Southeast of Saline next Friday while Ellsworth will travel to Hillsboro as both teams will again play District 6 games.
