The Hoisington High School girls and boys basketball teams were swept by Ellsworth Saturday afternoon at the Hoisington Activities Center.
The Ellsworth Bearcat girls won the opener over the Cardinals 52-34, and the Ellsworth boys defeated the Cardinal boys 58-50.
Josie Kueser (14), Elyse Haxton (13) and Alexis Moore (10) hit double digits for the Ellsworth girls.
Hoisington’s Addison Hanzlick scored 13 points. The Cardinal girls converted nine 3-pointers.
Tucker Goss converted five 3-pointers and scored 21 points for the Ellsworth boys. Cooper McGowan added 15 points and Jayce Thomasson added 12 points.
Marcus Ingram scored 15 points to lead the Hoisington boys. Mason Martin netted 13 points.
The Cardinal boys were outscored 30-12 on 3-pointers.
The Ellsworth girls improved to 13-4 and the Ellsworth boys improved to 6-12. The Hoisington girls dropped to 11-7 and the Hoisington boys fell to 11-9.
Both Hoisington teams will be back at home next week. The Cardinals play Hillsboro on Tuesday and Larned on Friday.
Ellsworth’s girls and boys teams play at Southeast of Saline Tuesday in Gypsum and at Salina Thursday against Sacred Heart.
The Ellsworth girls defeated Republic County 55-23 Friday at Belleville and the Ellsworth boys lost to Republic County 55-43.
