LYONS, Kan. – The Lyons boys have developed a reputation as a giant killer, and the Lions tried to add another big upset under their belts Friday but fell short of handing Ellinwood its first loss, as the Eagles pulled out a 55-47 win.
Britt Dutton led Ellinwood with another strong performance, finishing with 26 points. Taylor Campbell had 14 points for Lyons, which had an early 16-14 lead. Sam Schmidt added 12 points for Lyons.
Ellinwood girls 43, Lyons 38 – Lyons overcame a tough first half to take the lead heading to the fourth quarter, but Ellinwood surged back ahead and held on for a win.
Brittany Simpson led Ellinwood with 19 points, a number matched by Lyons’ Caitlyn Belote.
