KEARNEY, Neb. – The Ellinwood High School Varsity Volleyball team finished their summer season at the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UNK), claiming the UNK A Division team camp title.
The team finished pool play with a 14-2 record, performing against tough competition from Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and South Dakota. The pool run earned them the No. 1 seed in the Gold Bracket.
In bracket play, the team defeated contender Kearny Catholic and Hays to win the title. “The girls built more intensity and focus with each match,” head coach Greg Maxwell said. “This group has grown tremendously, and to come away as UNK Camp Champions is a huge accomplishment and confidence boost heading into the fall.”
The junior varsity team also participated in the tournament, finishing in 3rd place in the B Division Gold Bracket.
