KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The KC Iola Hormigas defeated the Trinidad Triggers 17-13 in Kansas City Sunday, June 22, thanks to eight home runs.
Rames Velasquez and Miguel Tejada had two home runs apiece to lead the Hormigas, with Tejada leading the team with 5 RBI’s. Zachary Trangmar, David Hendrick, Devin Radar, and Matt Dileonardo each added long drives.
In total, five Hormigas had multiple hits in the context as the team ended with 14 hits. The pitching staff walked 18 batters to keep Trinidad in the game however, as the team had only six hits. The 30 combined runs, 20 combined hits, and 26 combined walks made the game last three hours and 29 minutes.
The Hormigas are 4-14 on the season. They’ll rematch with Trinidad in Iola Monday, June 23 at 6 p.m.
