SHARE NOW

ELBING – The Berean Academy boys showed again why they annually have one of the top defenses in Kansas on Friday, as the Warriors held Trinity Catholic to a season low in scoring in a 39-10 win.

The Celtics likewise had a stout defensive effort, especially early. Late in the first half, Trinity was down just 15-6, but then Emory Kukula hit a 30-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving Berean an 18-6 lead at halftime. The Warriors continued that momentum into the third quarter, outscoring Trinity 15-0.

Nolan Sweazy led Berean, the second-ranked team in Class 2A, with a game-high 11 points. Ian Rios led Trinity with four points.

Berean improved to 17-2, while Trinity falls to 6-12.
