LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes took to the road to open up intradivsional play against the No. 20-ranked Evangel University Valor.
The Swedes would start off on the right foot as Frank Bohannon would intercept Evangel’s third pass of the day and return it 35 yards to the Valor 10-yardline. The Swedes would turn only gain one yard on the succeeding drive resulting in a 27-yard field goal for Max Goldstein to put Bethany up 3-0.
Later in the quarter, following a Zeke Mumford punt, the Dakota Grayson would pick off the Valor quarterback, this time in the redzone preventing Evangel from taking the lead.
In the second quarter, Julian Carpenter made a stop on fourth down leading to the third turnover on the night for the Valor. A few drives later, Frank Bohannon would intercept yet another pass to end the half. Bethany would trail 26-3.
In the fourth quarter, Malaki Daniels would find the endzone capping off a 10-play, 61-yard drive with a 6-yard score. Dalton Whitworth would fail to connect with Ryker Grossner on the two-point try. On the next drive, Whitworth would find Keyon Haynes for a 5-yard score and connect with Daniels on the following two-point try to give the Swedes 17 points, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough as Bethany would fall 68-17.
The defense has played pretty well for the Swedes and that continued today as the Swedes would force four turnovers (3 int, 1 T.O.D.). Frank Bohannon would tally two interceptions with three total tackles. Dakota Grayson would rack up seven total tackles and an interception of his own. Julian Carpenter would record 11 total tackles with seven solo tackles.
