KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs made several roster moves on Wednesday, signing three veteran defensive players while releasing two others.
The new additions are defensive tackle Matt Dickerson, cornerback Lamar Jackson and defensive tackle Chris Williams. In a pair of corresponding moves, the Chiefs released defensive tackle Byron Cowart and waived rookie safety Martez Manuel.
Dickerson is back with the Chiefs after spending a portion of training camp with Kansas City last August. The Chiefs waived the 27-year-old Dickerson on August 30 as part of final roster cuts, but he eventually went on to appear in six games with the Atlanta Falcons over the course of the 2022 season.
Jackson joins the Chiefs after appearing in three games for the Denver Broncos last season. The 25-year-old defensive back has taken the field for 22 games in his career since 2020, tallying appearances for the New York Jets (14) and Chicago Bears (5) in addition to his time in Denver.
Lastly, Williams is headed to Kansas City following two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. The 6-foot-2, 302-pound defensive tackle logged 13 appearances for Indianapolis in that time after joining the Colts as an undrafted free agent.
All three of those players will have an opportunity to show what they can do when the Chiefs take the field for Organized Team Activities (OTAs) during the week of May 22.
