HAVEN, Kan. – The Cheney Cardinals volleyball team continued their great start to the season on Saturday, fighting through a tough round robin to win the 29th Annual Coleman Classic at Haven. Cheney, ranked #5 in 3A by the Kansas Volleyball Association this week, went 5-0 on the day.
The Cardinals opened with a two-set win over Trinity Catholic, followed by a hard-fought three set victory over 2A #1 Inman, which ended up being the match that decided the championship. Cheney beat Garden Plain and Kingman in two sets to start the afternoon session and battled back for a three-set win over Haven in the final match of the round robin.
Inman ended the day at 4-1 and in second place. The Teutons are 14-1 on the season after picking up two-set wins over Garden Plain, Trinity Catholic and Inman along with a three-set victory over Haven and the loss to Cheney.
