The Cheney High School girls golf team edged out Larned by 3 strokes to win the Kansas Class 3-1A regional Monday at the Edward Park Golf Course in Larned.
Cheney won the tournament title with a 401 score, followed by Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian 408, Osage City 423, Wichita Collegiate 466, Kingman 510, Norwich 529, Garden Plain 549 and Hoisington 592.
TMP’s Brynn Schoepf won first-place medalist honors with an 89, followed by Larned’s Ariana Meyer 90, Cheney’s Raegan Black 93 and Larned’s Taeten Reynolds 94.
Cheney’s Ella Haar, Jenna Brull, Audrey Webb and Emmerson Beasley placed 7-10-11-12 with scores of 99, 104, 105 and 106.
Pretty Prairie golfers Lyndsey Hoyt, Jaelynn Reese and Hallie Deal placed 21-22-27 with scores of 114, 114 and 119.
Haven’s Aubree Nikkel placed 23rd with a 115 score and teammate Brooke Michaels was 49th with a 145 score..
Nickerson’s Jillian Harman placed 31st with a 123 score.
For the Kansas Class 3-1A girls’ golf tournament, the top three teams from each regional tournament qualify, along with the next five individual golfers with the best scores who are not on a qualifying team, plus any ties.
Each school can enter up to six players, with the lowest four scores counting for the team score at the regional.
