Central Christian Takes 1A Boys Golf Title

DODGE CITY, Kan. – For the second time in school history, the Central Christian School boys golf team brought home a KSHSAA 1A state championship.  The Cougars used a two day total of 633, 17 strokes better than second place and two-time defending state champion South Gray, which finished at 650.  Central Christian last won the state title in 2022.

South Gray’s Gavin Wahl was able to claim the individual title.  After being one stroke behind at 3-under par on the first day, he matched that with his second round on Tuesday, finishing with a 3-under 136 for the tournament.  The top individual finisher for Central Christian was Ry Kooiman, shooting a 6-over 148 for the tournament.  Cael Kooiman finished seventh with a two-day score of 150, while Nathan Reed tied for 8th at 159.  Also from the area tying for 8th place was Centre’s Easton Glessner.
