Carvell Named KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week

For the second time this season, Hutchinson Community College freshman Evie Carvell was named the Jayhawk Conference’s Division I Goalkeeper of the Week.

Carvell allowed just one goal in 180 minutes to lead the No. 18-ranked Blue Dragons to a 1-0-1 record last week.

For the week – a 1-0 win over Seward County and a 1-1 draw with Butler – Carvell had five total saves and had a save percentage of .883.

Carvell pitched her fourth shutout of the season in a two-save performance in the victory over the Saints.

Carvell had three saves in a 1-1 home draw with Butler.

The Blue Dragon keeper also earned conference honors on September 2.

Overall, the Blue Dragons have earned three conference player/keeper of the week awards. Freshman Poppy Smith was also the winner in Week 2.

Hutchinson plays host to Garden City at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and closes the regular season at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Barton.
