Campbell, Beale Take Down Two Blue Dragon Records at Alex Francis Classic

HAYS – The Hutchinson Community College women’s track and field team took down two more school records on Thursday at the Fort Hays State Alex Francis Classic.

Freshman Anecia Campbell broke the Blue Dragon record in the 400 meters and punched her ticket to the NJCAA Outdoor Championships. Beale broke her own record in the discus on Thursday, setting a new Hutchinson record for the 16th time in 2026.

Campbell shattered the Blue Dragon women’s 400-meter record, winning the Alex Francis Classic with a time of 54.87 seconds. Campbell broke the 2024 record of Kaylee James (56.91 seconds). Campbell’s time is currently seventh in the NJCAA this season.

Xylavene Beale won the Alex Francis discus with a school-record mark of 178 feet, 8 inches (54.45 meters). She broke her own school record of 165 feet set two weeks ago at the Tabor College Invitational. Beale’s mark ranks No. 1 in the nation.

The Blue Dragons picked up another national qualifier when sophomore Deisheline Mayer Scott qualified in the discus with a personal record of 142-5 (43.41 meters). Her mark is 11th in the NJCAA. Mayer-Scott also placed third in the javelin with a distance of 127-2 (38.77 meters).

Other top Blue Dragons performances on Thursday:

+ Sprinter Sidney Holt placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 11.96 seconds, which was .04 seconds off the national qualifying standard.

Taya Orth placed fourth in the javelin with a distances of 111 feet, 9 inches. (34.05 meters).

Kora Rex placed sixth in the javelin with a distance of 105 feet, 5 inches (32.12 meters).

Grace Bender placed eighth in the pole vault with a height of 10-6 (3.20 meters).

The Blue Dragons will next compete at the Region 6 Championships next weekend in Arkansas City.
