PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. – McPherson High School Basketball fell in both varsity matches at the 810 Varsity Showcase on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Shawnee Mission East High School.
The Bullpup Girls fell to yet another highly-ranked 6A team in Olathe North, 60-36. McPherson trailed just 33-22 at halftime, but North’s offense prevailed in the second half, outscoring McPherson 27-14. Piper Alvord led all scorers again, this time with eight points for McPherson.
The Bullpup Boys lost against Olathe South, 68-45. McPherson struggled to hit three-pointers in the game, making only two long shots, both in the fourth quarter. On the flip side, Olathe South made nine three-pointers. Despite the loss, it was yet another terrific game for freshman forward Eli Reasoner, who dropped a career-high 20 points to lead the Bullpups.
Both the varsity girls and boys teams are 2-5 heading into the holiday break. They will host their first home game of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 against Augusta to resume league play.
