McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School Boys & Girls Wrestling and Boys Swimming teams continued the early parts of their season, each competing in invitationals.
WRESTLING
The wrestling teams took part in the annual invitational in Douglass, starting with the girls’ team participating in the 5th Annual Girls Goodwill Invitational on Friday, Dec. 12. The Bullpups finished 15th overall out of 24 schools.
Haidi Fairchild and Kara McQueen each finished 4th in their respective classes. Juana Miguel Gaspar finished in 7th in hers. CLICK HERE to view the full results.
The boys’ team took part in the 73rd Douglass Goodwill Invitational the following day, placing 8th out of 18 schools. Noah Garcia won the 113-pound weight class, winning the title match in a tight 6-5 decision. Carter Leathers placed 3rd in the 285 class. CLICK HERE to view the full results.
BOYS SWIMMING
The McPherson Boys Swimming team took part in two invites over the past week, starting with the Topeka-Hayden invite on Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the capital city. McPherson finished 7th out of nine schools in that invite.
Cooper Bohme had a strong week, starting with Wednesday’s invite in Topeka. He won the 500 Freestyle by 18 seconds and placed 2nd in the 200 Freestyle, finishing behind the winner by only 0.1 seconds. Ben Bocox finished 6th in the 100 Backstroke.
The Bullpup’s A 400 Freestyle Relay team placed 5th, and the A 200 Medley Relay team finished 7th.
McPherson continued to the Andover Central Invite on Saturday, Dec. 13, placing 10th out of 14 schools. Bohme finished 6th in the 200 Freestyle, as well as 8th in the 500 Freestyle. Ben Bocox placed 10th in the 100 Backstroke, and Beckett Schuckman placed 12th in the 100 Butterfly.
