McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School girls basketball team won big to kick off the postseason, defeating the Hugoton Lady Eagles 66-17.
The Bullpups started strong, leading 14-0 after one quarter and 37-9 at halftime. The team shot 52% on the game while forcing only 15% shooting from Hugoton and forcing 21 turnovers.
Three Bullpups finished in double-figures in the scoring column. Jaela Thompson led all scorers with 12 points. Madi Moors & Jayla McLeod each added 10.
Brooke Doile came off of the bench and scored a career-high 9 points, shooting 4-4 FG, and adding 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
The No. 2 Bullpups will stay home Friday and will host No. 7 Clay Center (12-8), who defeated No. 10 Mulvane Tuesday 64-33.
