McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Girls Soccer followed up their heartbreaking 2-OT loss to Buhler Tuesday with a blowout & shutout over Wichita-Collegiate Thursday, May 2, winning 10-0. The win is their 7th shutout win of the season and their 5th scoring eight or more goals.
The Bullpups had the favorable offensive and defensive advantage with 21 SOG, compared to none by Collegiate, making it a non-stressful match for GK Alyssa Harger. 7 of the 10 goals by McPherson came in the 2nd half, including a second-half Hat Trick by Alivia Villalobos.
Grace Prescott led with the opening goal, then Baylee Simmelink would score back-to-back goals in the first half, giving MHS a 3-0 halftime lead. Prescott added her second goal of the match right after the break, followed by Alivia Villalobos scoring her first. Kenna Dale then scored her only goal of the match, then Becca Lulloff and Villalobos exchanging goals to end the match with a 10-0 win.
McPherson is now 8-5-1 on the season and are currently in 5th place in the 4-1A West Regional standings. Their final home match of the season will be Monday, May 6 against Wichita-Trinity Academy at 6:30 p.m.
