Bullpup Girls Close Regular Season with Blowout Win at Winfield, 54-27

WINFIELD, Kan. – The McPherson High School Girls Basketball team finished the 2025-26 regular season in Winfield on Thursday, Feb. 27, defeating the Vikings 54-27.

The Bullpups saw themselves up by double-figures early, thanks to terrific shooting by Brooke Doile and Maryn Sandbo, who combined to have 21 of the team’s 26 points at halftime. McPherson’s defense also held Winfield to only nine made baskets, five of which were in the fourth quarter with McPherson already leading by more than 20 points.

McPherson’s offense made 18 baskets in total, eight of which were three-pointers. Sandbo led the Bullpups with 13 points, while Doile closed with 12. Jersey Alexander also chipped in with a 9-point performance. Winfield had two scorers who led with eight points: Ansley McCaslin and Karsyn Hutto.

The regular season ends with McPherson boasting a 13-10 record, ending on a five-game winning streak. The team also finished 9-1 overall in AVCTL-3 play, winning the outright league title by two games.

McPherson will go into Sub-State as the No. 8 seed, which will begin on Tuesday, March 3. The Bullpups will play the opening round at the Roundhouse, meeting up with 9th-seeded Buhler for a third time this season.
