Bullpup Boys Stay No. 1 in League, Beat Buhler on Winter Homecoming 68-46

McPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson High School Boys Basketball team defeated their league rival, Buhler, 68-46 on Friday, Feb. 13 on Winter Homecoming night, avenging their December loss to Buhler and staying in the top spot in the AVCTL-3 standings.

Both teams entered 10-8 on the season and 4-1 in league play, with Buhler being McPherson’s lone league loss. Buhler started strong, taking a 5-0 lead early, but McPherson bounced back to close the first half on a 33-11 run, leading 33-16 at halftime.

Buhler stormed back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to single-digits with terrific outside shooting and timely defense. McPherson was able to bounce back just like they did in the first quarter, running away with the 68-46 victory.

Eli Reasoner led the Bullpups with 21 points. Jett Pyle added 14 and Cole Cooper contributed with 10.

McPherson takes the lone top spot in the AVCTL-3 standings with a 5-1 league record, 11-8 overall. They’ll continue league play with two road games, starting Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Circle.
