DERBY, Kan. – The McPherson High School Boys Golf team traveled to Derby Tuesday, May 13 for their first postseason meet of the year, finishing third in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division 3 (AVCTL D3) meet.
McPherson’s Cole Cooper won individually at the Derby Golf & Country Club, with a score of 76, finishing two strokes ahead of second place. McPherson as a team finished 3rd behind Circle and Buhler. The final four team placings were only separated by seven strokes.

McPherson will prepare for Regionals, which will take place Monday, May 19 at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson. They will compete against golfers from Abilene, Buhler, Clay Center, Clearwater, Concordia, Hugoton, Pratt, and Ulysses.
The golfers will fight for a spot to the 4A State Championships, which will be May 27-28 at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton.
