Bullpup Baseball Splits DH with Hutchinson at Riverfront Stadium

WICHITA, Kan. – The McPherson High School baseball team traveled down to Wichita for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play baseball at a Minor League stadium, playing at Riverfront Stadium, home of the Wichita Wind Surge. The Bullpups won game one 4-0, but fell in game two 8-5 against the Hutchinson Salthawks.


GAME 1

McPherson – 4, Hutchinson – 0

The Bullpups held a slim lead for most of the game, leading 1-0 through the top of the 6th inning. A three-run bottom of the 6th game the Bullpups much needed insurance, leading them to the 4-0 shutout win, their second shutout win of the season.

After two quick shutout innings, both teams’ offense started to heat up. The Bullpups took a 3-2 lead in the 4th, but a strong 5th & 6th by the Salthawks pushed them to an 8-4 lead. The Bullpups would try to mount a 7th-inning comeback, but fell 8-5 for their first loss of the season.


The Bullpups are now 4-1 on the season. They will have a quick turnaround with a double-header on the road against Circle. First pitch of the DH is at 4 p.m. Coverage of the games can be heard on Ad Astra Sports-2.
