Siloam Springs, Ark. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson men’s soccer squad was on the wrong side of the result Thursday night (Aug 30) as they fell on the road against the John Brown Golden Eagles by a final score of 6-1.
The lone goal scored for the Bulldogs was kicked in in the 54th minute by last season’s team leader in goals Anthony Pereira. Pereira’s goal was the only shot on goal recorded by the Bulldogs in the game. Assisting him on the goal was freshman Lorenzo Orlandi.
Keito Takehara Jr. made his second start at goalkeeper and played the full 90 minutes and recorded five total saves in the game.
John Brown was led by Alejandro Gallardo, who recorded a hat trick on the day. Kyle Hix got the start as goalkeeper and played the entire 90 minutes of game time. He failed to save the one shot on goal he faced.
The Bulldogs are back home on Sunday (Sep. 1) at 2:30 p.m. when they face off against Mount Marty University in the second game of a doubleheader that will also see the women’s team kick off at noon.
