McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College offense exploded for 101 points to take down the Manhattan Christian College Thunder Wednesday (Nov. 13) inside Holman Fieldhouse.
The Bulldogs’ 101 points is the highest total since January 22, 2022 and is the highest total in regulation since November 4, 2020. MC scored 59 first-half points which is the second highest in the Eskildsen Era, and the 21st time since the 2019-20 season that the Bulldogs scored at least 50 points in a half.
Five Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Collin Storr with 19 points. Storr also pulled down six rebounds. Antonio Watson, Aaron Williams Jr. and Curtis Rose each added 16 points apiece, and Jamil Hardaway finished with 15 points.
MC shot 50 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs drilled 12 threes, which is the highest of the season.
Things were back-and-forth through the opening six minutes until a basket by Storr broke a 20-20 gridlock and sparked an 11-0 burst over the next two minutes. Back-to-back triples by Landon Gray briefly halted the run, but the Bulldogs ballooned their lead to as many as 15 before taking a 59-49 lead into the break.
Manhattan Christian shot 54.8 percent (17-for-31) from the field in the opening half, and were highly efficient from beyond the arc, drilling 10 of their 18 attempts. The Bulldogs shot 57.9 percent from the field through the first 20 minutes.
McPherson maintained that lead into the second frame, before expanding it to a 25-point advantage midway through. The Bulldogs would cruise to victory.
The Bulldogs had a season-high 13 assists led by Rose with five helpers, MC also made the most of their free throw attempts, shooting 94.4 percent (17-for-18) at the line.
MC will be back inside Holman Fieldhouse Saturday (Nov. 16) for the KCAC opener against Southwestern College. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
