Bulldogs Downed by Friends in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. ( –The (RV) Friends University Falcons rushed for 470 yards to knock off the McPherson College Bulldogs 66-17 Saturday afternoon (Nov. 4) at Riverfront Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Bulldogs were held to a season-low 197 yards including just 94 yards through the air.

Jalil Brown gave the Bulldogs the lead midway through the first quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run, capping a four play 53-yard drive to make it a 7-3 ballgame.

However, that would be the only lead the Bulldogs would have, as a 23-yard interception return for a touchdown by Braden Gordon followed by a six-yard touchdown run by Jett Cheatham made it a 17-7 advantage with 3:52 left in the half.

The Bulldogs pulled within 17-14 at the half, when Brown ripped off a 37-yard touchdown with 52 second left.

Friends scored three touchdowns in the third quarter, then added four more in the fourth to blow the game wide open.

Brown led the Bulldogs (5-5) with ten carries for 90 yards and a pair of scores, while Brysen Kerby added 33 yards on 11 totes. Jeremiah Mosley finished 5-for-9 passing for 48 yards while Wyatt Smith completed five of his 13 passes for 46 yards.

The Falcons (8-2) threw just three passes, but did not complete one. K’Vonte Baker rushed 23 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

The Bulldogs wrap up the season next Saturday (Nov. 11) with a trip to Winfield, Kan. to take on Southwestern College. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m
