OTTAWA, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The No. 20-ranked McPherson College Bulldogs ran their winning streak to 12 games Saturday (Oct. 26), after knocking off the (RV) Ottawa University Braves 3-1 inside the Wilson Fieldhouse in Ottawa, Kan.
Four Bulldogs finished with at least ten kills, with Brooke McHale leading the way with 19 kills. Enya Fierens added 17 kills thanks to a staggering .517 attacking percentage, while Daniela finished with 14 kills and Hadley Waldren had 12 kills. Katelyn Brogan and Raegan Murphy ran the Bulldogs offense finishing with 30 assists and 29 assists, respectively.
MC got off to a hot start in the early going, scoring five of the first six points in set one, but the Braves answered with a 4-0 burst of their own to level the score at 5-5. From there it was back-and-forth until a kill by McHale gave the Bulldogs a 25-21 win and a 1-0 advantage.
In the second set, it was the Braves who grabbed an early lead, and even led 17-12 late, but seven straight points thanks to a pair of kills by Fierens, and a pair of attacking errors by the Braves put MC on top 23-21.
The Braves would not go quietly though, scoring the next four points to grab a brief lead, but a pair of kills by Waldren sparked a 3-0 spurt to win 28-26.
Ottawa took the third set 26-24, but that would be all she wrote for the Braves as MC raced out to a 12-3 lead in the fourth frame. OU made things interesting at the end, but the Bulldogs offense proved too potent.
During the Bulldogs 12-game winning streak, they have seven sweeps, and have knocked off three teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 ratings.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 29) for a non-conference tilt against NCAA Division II foe Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla. MC will return to Holman Fieldhouse next Saturday (Nov. 2) for Senior Day against Saint Mary starting at 1:00 p.m.
